This piece is a reproduction of a clipping from a Salvadoran newspaper at the height of the civil war in the country. It gives us insight into how life went on during such a tumultuous time. Materials taken from wartime allow us to reflect on the violence that made a nation suffer and allows us to mourn for it without resorting to violent imagery. It also reminds us of the indomitable human spirit willing to live life despite the horrors of a U.S. backed conflict that claimed the lives of so many innocent people. The advert is for the national lottery and is printed on torn clothing fabric.
